- Great industry news lately:
- Record numbers of gun sales – March 2020 broke the record for background checks to-date.
- More new gun owners than ever have entered the marketplace:
- Now is the time to teach and educate. Help them learn – don’t judge.
- No gun bans have been put in place:
- Stock is low but don’t freak out.
- Don’t overpay.
- ATF Licensed FFL Premises Update:
- No laws changed – they simply provided clarification on existing laws.
- How to sell with no in-store business
- Parking lots okay?
- Nearby okay?
- Required distance from building?
- ITAR – Major changes have gone into effect:
- Export Control Reform Initiative started by Obama to help our industry deregulate firearms and ammunition.
- Final rules for the transition went into effect March 9!
- Less hassle and much less expensive now for manufacturers (Type 07 FFLs)
- Export licenses still needed! But now it’s easier to get and comply with a streamlined process.
- Most firearms, their components, and ammunition have moved from the state department to commerce.
- What moved over?
- What didn’t?
- Machine guns? 3D plans? Polymer cases? Belted Ammo?
- Working to add an import/export controls module to the Rocket FFL program:
- New license scheme
- New export classification numbers
- Complicated to start off but much lower hurdles to cross!
- Does this benefit the consumer, or just manufacturers?
- And I’ll explain why.
