About Ryan
Ryan M. Cleckner is a problem-solver and firearms expert who became an attorney so that he could help protect gun owners and the firearms industry.
Firearms Expert
Cleckner, a former special operations sniper team leader in the U.S. Army’s 1st Ranger Battalion, is a combat veteran with multiple deployments overseas. Following his role as an active-duty sniper, Cleckner became a sniper instructor and competitive shooter.
He has appeared numerous times on the History Channel’s “Top Shot” program as a featured sniper expert, he has a series of popular online firearm instructional and demonstration videos, and he publishes firearms related content via books, articles, videos, and podcasts.
Author
Ryan is the author of the best-selling Long Range Shooting Handbook and numerous articles for RECOIL magazine, Carnivore magazine, Gun Digest Magazine, and various online websites. He is currently working on the much-anticipated sequeal to his first book, Advanced Long Range Shooting, and two other soon-to-be-announced titles.
Entreprenuer
Even though he keeps busy as a family man, attorney, author, host of two podcasts, and professor, Ryan loves to tackle and work on new projects.
He just launched an online-learning program that helps people obtain their FFL and educates them on the associated requirements at RocketFFL.com. He’s also putting the finishing touches on a project to qualify individuals, completely online, to legally carry a concealed handgun in over half of the country.
Attorney
After his service, Cleckner attended Quinnipiac University School of Law as a Dean’s Scholar where he graduated with honors.
Cleckner is known in the firearms industry as a firearm law subject matter expert. He currently represents hundreds of Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) across the country. As an advocate for the firearms industry, Cleckner has established a strong relationship and great reputation with the ATF and its senior leadership.
Executive
As a firearms industry executive he has managed federal government relations for the firearms industry’s trade association (NSSF), established and managed the compliance department for the industry’s largest firearm and ammunition manufacturer as a Vice President of Remington Outdoor Company (Remington, Marlin, AAC, Bushmaster, DPMS, Barnes, and others), and has served as a voting board member on the Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI).
Professor
Cleckner teaches Constitutional law courses including, Civil Liberties, American Constitutional Law, and Law, Courts, and Public Policy, for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, AL. He has been teaching at the college/university level for 7 years and has also guest-lectured law school courses.
